
Voluptuous lips have always been a desired feature in beauty. A significant development has occurred in lip enhancement surgery. New lip implants have proven to be an exciting alternative to previous lip implant materials.

The PermaLip silicone implant is made by SurgiSil and is an exciting new lip implant. It is made from a stretchy silicone with the consistency of "Gummy Bears" and is very pliable and natural feeling. This implant is available in numerous lengthens and diameters The actual implant procedure is a simple local anesthetic procedure. The soft silicone allows normal lip function and and is permanent although the implant is easily removable if the patient desires.
The VeraFil lip implant is the newest addition to the lip implant market and promises to be a very popular and permanent alternative to injectable fillers. This implant is the first inflatable, saline implant for the lips. The implant is inserted into the lips with local anesthesia using 2 small incisions. When positioned, the implant is inflated with saline to the desired size (similar to breast implants), customized for the specific patient desires. The recovery is several days where the will be some swelling and sometimes bruising. The implant is permanent unless the patient wants it removed, which can be done in several minutes. Since the implant is saline filled, it is not rigid and provides a very soft and natural augmentation and does not impede normal oral function. All patients have reported that the VeraFil implants pass the "kiss test" without problems.
The VeraFil lip implant consists of a soft, surgical silicone cuff that enlarges when filled with saline to customize the level of augmentation for each patient.
