A Teaching Moment
This year I will present about 20 academic presentations on cosmetic facial surgery in various states and abroad. I love teaching, so this is always fun. The fun is not only helping other doctors learn cosmetic facial surgery, but more so meeting new doctors who are also excited about cosmetic surgery. This also gives me a chance to interact and exchange ideas with some of the leading surgeons in world.
On July 11, 2013, I taught a filler and neurotoxin with New York City plastic surgeon Michael Kane. The course was Innovations in Facial Aesthetic Medicine at the Ritz-Carlton at Tyson’s Corner and featured Belotero and Xeomin, two new products from Merz Aesthetics as well as Radiesse. Michael is an international authority on this subject and we have spoken at numerous meeting in the US as well as Europe and Australia. I always enjoy Michael’s energy on the podium and “on the needle”. I spoke on injectable fillers and Michael lectured on neurotoxins. We then performed live injection demonstrations with Belotero, Radiesse and Xeomin. The course was standing room only with over 150 doctors from plastic surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, maxillofacial surgery, facial plastic surgery and other specialties. I will be presenting this course and several other courses on other injectable fillers over the next several months. I hope Michael and I team up again, lots of fun.
My next filler teaching session will be at our September Cosmetic Facial Surgery Course.
