Dr. Niamtu Receives Two Distinguished Surgery Awards in Cosmetic Surgery
I guess when you have done something for a long time and you get old you get some awards :). I have been honored to receive two recent awards for distinguished service in cosmetic facial surgery.
On December 7th, the Bellevue Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Alumni Program named Dr. Joe Niamtu of Richmond, Virginia the recipient of their 31st annual William F. Harrigan award. This annual award is presented for major contributions in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in honor of Dr. William F. Harrigan, chief of post graduate training programs at Bellevue Hospital N.Y.C, 1950-1978. Dr. Gayle Miranda, president of and chair of the selection committee presented the award to Dr. Niamtu for his contributions in cosmetic facial surgery.

Dr. Niamtu was also awarded the Golden Scalpel award from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, which is annually awarded to 4 surgeons who exhibit “excellence, dedication, advancement and contribution to the field of cosmetic surgery.
I am humbled to not only receive these awards but to also join current and past recipients whom have blazed the trails previously.
