Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery: Small Procedure with Big Results
The patient below is shown before and 6 weeks after upper and lower cosmetic eyelid surgery. The surgery was performed with the CO2 laser. The upper lids were treated by removing excess skin, muscle and fat and the lower lids were treated by removing fat with an incision hidden inside the lower eyelid and CO2 laser skin resurfacing of the lower lid skin which makes new youthful skin.
A big part of my life involves the management of patient pictures and I spend many hours putting together before and after pictures of my surgeries. I do this for many reasons. First of all, I study each one of them to critically analyse the result. Like a quarterback looking at game films, I want to know exactly what I did and if there is anything I could change to positively affect the result. Another reason is for the patient to see their results. It is amazing how a patient and their family can look at their face for half a century and after surgery forget what they used to look like. Having high quality controlled before and after pictures is the best way to show the positive changes.
There are many rewarding parts about my profession, but I have to admit that when I put before and after cases together and see the true result, it really makes me and my staff feel great. Needless to say, it makes the patient happy as well. Making patients look and feel better is a fun job.
I am really lucky to have a profession that is also my passion and from time to time on this blog I showcase various procedures such as the case above.
