Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery: Plain & Simple
The eyes have been referred to as “The Seat of the Soul” and are the first thing that people look at when they see someone’s face. They are an expression of beauty in females and handsomeness in males. The upper face ages faster than the lower face hence my eyelid patients are frequently younger than my facelift patients. Heredity negatively influences eyelid aging and some patients have excess skin and or fat at a much younger age. Blephaorplasty surgery takes about an hour and is performed with IV sedation. I do not use scalpels or scissors and I perform all eyelid surgeries with laser technology. Making incisions (and removing skin and fat) with a laser is a bloodless procedure, meaning that there is literally no bleeding. This is important in eyelid surgery because the eyes are very vascular and bleed easily. Performing bloodless surgery greatly reduces bruising, swelling, and discomfort and speeds recovery.
The patient shown above is a great example of eyelid rejuvenation. This patient presented with excess skin, muscle, and fat on her upper lids. This upper lid “hooding” made her look older and tired. The lower lids had fat bags, dark circles, and skin wrinkling which also made her look older and tired. I performed upper and lower laser blepharoplasty and laser skin resurfacing with mole removal of her lower eyelids skin. The after pictures were taken about 6 weeks post her surgery. For women, the hooded and excess upper eyelid skin makes it difficult to apply eyeliner or eye shadow and rejuvenating the upper lids greatly simplifies this. Women reading this will understand and agree.
This patient is very happy and has sent numerous friends to my office for cosmetic facial surgery. A happy patient equals a happy doctor and staff and this is our goal. This is what we do, and I love doing it!
