Invited Professor at the Mexican Society of Rhinoplasty and Facial Plastic Surgery
Last week I had an excellent academic experience being one of the featured guest speakers at the 14th International Course of the Mexican Society of Rhinoplasty and Facial Plastic Surgery in Mexico City.
I was honored to be a featured speaker along with internally recognized surgeons Dr. Jorge Pretelt from Medellin, Colombia and Alexandra Mora from Bogota, Colombia. I learned a lot from both of them.
I have never been to a more active meeting as I had 10 lectures on the topics of facelift, browlift, blepharoplasty, facial implants, cosmetic practice management, and fat management to name a few.
Mexico is truly a beautiful country and the people are very gracious. We had some great meals (real Mexican food is not as salty or spicy as the local stuff) and my favorite part of the trip was visiting the Mexican Anthropology Museum. The amazing artifacts and reconstructions of Mayan life 5,000 BC was amazing.
Our hosts included the meeting organizers and facial plastic surgeons Dr. Hugo Gonzalez, Dr. Sergio Ochoa, Dr. Carla Guzman, Dr. Benjamin Macias and others. The went far out of their way to make sure our trip was special. While I was giving 10 lectures, April got some “mall time” and caught up on her work.
I have to say that the Mexican facial plastic surgeons are some of the best trained and innovative international docs I have had the pleasure of associating with. I was also very honored that many of the attendees had my textbooks and or training videos. I especially enjoyed hanging out with the surgical residents as they are always the future and love to learn.
These docs also know how to celebrate and every venue we dined at was a special experience.
Thanks again my Mexican brothers and sisters and I hope to return again for more of your teaching, learning and hospitality.
