Dr. Niamtu Named to Botox International Advisory Board

Botox is a big part of my practice for over 20 years.  We have been a Diamond level provider and have been in the top 300-500 users in the USA for years.  Over the last 15 years I have served (and currently serve) on several Allergan (the maker of Botox) Physician Advisory Boards.  I recently had the honor to become a member of the Botox International Advisory Board.  The highlight of this meeting was the ability to tour the Botox manufacturing plant in Westport, Ireland.  This location is about 3 hours west of Dublin and few outsiders get the ability to visit this facility.

Westport is a beautiful city and long time resort.  It looks just like you would imagine when you think of Ireland; lots of tall-rolling green hills and grazing sheep.  The Botox facility is anything but pastoral! It is an amazing ultra high tech manufacturing facility.  If you ever watch the show “How It’s Made” you would love this place.  It is a little NASA, a little James Bond and a ton of technology and security.  This plant has produced over 100 million vials of Botox over the past 17 years.  What a lot of people don’t realize is that almost two thirds of Botox produced is used for non-cosmetic treatments such as cerebral palsy arm spasticity, migraine headaches, over active bladder control and scores of other medical treatments.

Below are some of the other Botox International Advisory Board members shown during the tour and meeting.  These represent some of the biggest users, teachers and researchers of Botox in the United States and I am honored to be associated with such esteemed colleagues.
